Faith H. Quinn
[attr="class","dropfrumbodytxt"]Faith Quinn is the eldest daughter of no-maj operatic soprano Joy Whitfield and the halfblooded composer/pianist Jonathan Quinn. One could almost say that it was love at first sight for the two. All it took was one recital together and the pair was inseparable. They eloped after only about a year of dating. However, Jonathan had put off telling Joy that he was a wizard until she had gotten pregnant with Faith. Initially, Joy didn’t take it that well. But she came around a few days later and started asking question after question. The soprano was almost an expert on the wizarding world by the time Faith Hildegard Quinn had been born. Two years later, Hope Orianna Quinn was born. Two years after that, Faith’s next sister Grace Fanny Quinn was born. Amity Constanze Quinn was born two years later. Felicity Clara Quinn, the youngest of the Quinn sisters, followed after another two years.
Faith’s childhood was filled with music from a very young age. From evenings dancing in the living room with her sisters while her father played piano to watching her mother perform in various roles and practice aria after aria. When Faith was five, she started piano lessons with one of her father’s friends. After all, Jonathan didn’t want to have to deal with the stress of teaching his own child piano. He doubted he would do a good job. Faith’s love of music didn’t fade in the slightest when she left her family in New York to go to Ilvermorny. During her years at school, she managed to keep high grades. One professor even told her she should pursue a career in the MACUSA. That wasn’t her desire, though. She was a very good student, yes, but her heart lied solely with choir and music.
After she graduated Ilvermorny, she began to study voice at the prestigious Juilliard. She absolutely loved during her first year of study, but halfway through her second year of study, she figured out that she didn’t want to perform for a living… she wanted to teach music. So she finished up the year at Juilliard and then transferred to Eastman School of Music, where she studied Music Education with an emphasis in voice. This is also where she completed her Master’s degree and Doctoral degree. Faith taught choir at a high school in Rochester, NY while she was working on her Master’s degree. This high school is where she met her now-husband, physics teacher Melchiorre Rossi. The two dated for about four years before Melchiorre proposed to Faith. Part of her was surprised they stayed together, even after she left the school to pursue her doctorate. It wasn’t until about two months into their engagement that Faith finally confessed her wizarding status to him. It took him a bit to actually process this information. After all, he was such a logical person. Magic couldn’t be real… could it?
Faith and Melchiorre got married when she was twenty-nine years old, just one year after finally earning her Doctor of Musical Arts degree. Faith kept her maiden name after marriage almost solely for the reason that she didn’t want to get mail addressed to Dr. and Mrs. Rossi, like she knew would inevitably happen. When Faith was thirty, she got a job at a community college as the choral director. At the age of thirty-one, Faith and Melchiorre decided to try for a baby. Luck was on their side and she’d gotten pregnant soon after their decision to start a family. Eight and a half months later, the twins Serenity Marie Rossi and Anne Elizabeth Rossi was born. When Faith was thirty-three, the Choir professor position at Ilvermorny opened up. She applied for the job and managed to get it. She was incredibly ecstatic to get the job, but worried about whether or not Melchiorre would want to make the move from Rochester to Massachusetts. He assured her that he didn’t mind having to leave Rochester. After all, he may be a no-maj, but he understood the magnitude of this opportunity. So the Rossi family packed up their bags and made the move to Massachusetts. Faith is now starting her first year teaching at Ilvermorny and couldn’t be happier.
